Ssince the fall of man there have been two types of people. The sons of 'works' and the sons of 'faith'. Cain presented his sacrifice from the works of his hands, Abel presented his from the works of Gods hand namely; the "firstlings of the flock and of their fat", which in itself was symbolic of the Messiah who was to be the ultimate sacrifice for once and for all.

By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.
Blood is symbolic of life and as Abel's blood still speaks, Yeshua's blood still speaks in that we are not righteous through our works, but through the Blood of the Lamb which washed away our sin so we can enter into the Holy of Holy's and go boldly into the throne room of God without a mediator.
It appears the sons of works who persecute the sons of faith today still require priests to mediate for them as they carry out their laws and rituals, but God desires us just to come as we are in faith of what He did through His Son over 2000 years ago. .
