1. Make friends with positive, successful, godly people
Proverbs 1:10: son, if sinners entice you,
Do not consent.
Psalm 1:1: Blessed is the man that walks not in the way of the evil and does not stand in the counsel of sinners and does not sit on the seat of mockers.
When Princess Diana died God said to me: The people you hang around with can cost you your life. It is better to have no friends than to have bad friends.
2. Be obedient to God and flee from sin, obey your conscience.
Proverbs 3: 24: Because I have called and you refused,
I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,
Because you disdained all my counsel,
And would have none of my rebuke,
I also will laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when your terror comes,
When your terror comes like a storm,
And your destruction comes like a whirlwind,
When distress and anguish come upon you.
“Then they will call on me, but I will not answer;
They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.
Because they hated knowledge
And did not choose the fear of the Lord,
They would have none of my counsel
And despised my every rebuke. Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way,
And be filled to the full with their own fancies.
For the [l]turning away of the simple will slay them,
And the complacency of fools will destroy them;
But whoever listens to me will dwell safely,
And will be secure, without fear of evil.”
A new testament scripture: Romans 1:18-32 Amplified Version
Unbelief and Its Consequences
18 For [God does not overlook sin and] the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who in their wickedness suppress and stifle the truth, 19 because that which is known about God is evident within them [in their inner consciousness], for God made it evident to them. 20 For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation, the wonderful things that He has made], so that they [who fail to believe and trust in Him] are without excuse and without defence. 21 For even though [d]they knew God [as the Creator], they did not [e]honour Him as God or give thanks [for His wondrous creation]. On the contrary, they became worthless in their thinking [godless, with pointless reasonings, and silly speculations], and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory and majesty and excellence of the immortal God for [f]an image [worthless idols] in the shape of mortal man and birds and four-footed animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their own hearts to [sexual] impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonoured among them [abandoning them to the degrading power of sin], 25 because [by choice] they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading and vile passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural [a function contrary to nature], 27 and in the same way also the men turned away from the natural function of the woman and were consumed with their desire toward one another, men with men committing shameful acts and in return receiving in their own bodies the inevitable and appropriate penalty for their wrongdoing.
28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or consider Him worth knowing [as their Creator], God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do things which are improper and repulsive, 29 until they were filled (permeated, saturated) with every kind of unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice and mean-spiritedness. They are gossips [spreading rumours], 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors [of new forms] of evil, disobedient and disrespectful to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful [without pity]. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree and His judgment, that those who do such things deserve death, yet they not only do them, but they even [enthusiastically] approve and tolerate others who practice them.
3. Obey authority, be gracious, kind and nice
God has placed people in authority. If you are part of a church then submit to the leadership in the church. Ladies if you are married submit to your husbands. When police stop you, submit to their authority.
Stubbornness & rebellion is as witchcraft.
Discretion is the better part of valour. Choose not to fight and to be gentle rather than aggressive and over bearing. People don’t want to be around pig headed bullies, therefore you run out of grace with people when you behave like that. That can affect you at home with your parents, your workplace with your boss and society – friends who would normally have been supported you.
A friend of mine went for counselling with his wife concerning her gambling problem. I will never forget how he conveyed what the counsellor said to him. He said: “Just be nice, just be nice”.
Simple words, but deep, practical words one can all take heed of. How hard is it to smile and be nice? It costs us nothing, when we smile, we use less energy and less facial muscles than when we frown. I’m not saying you must walk around with a permanent smile on your face like a gormless idiot, but haven’t you noticed that when people have a friendly disposition it’s a pleasure to be around them. Often those frowning are manipulative, controlling and self-absorbed.
Let me qualify things a little bit; the bible is our final authority, if the government, your boss or your husband expects you to do something contrary to the bible then it is illegitimate, do not adhere to it. There is a difference between what is legal and what is right.
4. The three B’s that can cause you to go down:
Booze – Whilst it is not a sin to drink, it is a sin to be drunk. Unfortunately, many of us do not stop at one glass. More than one glass of wine. One glass can be one too many and two glasses is not enough. More than a glass of alcohol every day can destroy your inner nervous system, which can never be restored accept by a miracle. It can destroy your liver and kill you and it can cause erectile disfunctions for men. Ephesians 5:18: do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery (indecency) but be filled with the Spirit.
Boodle – Is money the root of all evil? 1 Timothy 6:10: for the love of money is the root of all evil. Money in itself is not evil nor good, its merely an instrument of exchange.
Broads – Many a Godly man has had his ministry destroyed by going after women he should not have. How many times do we hear that the pastor has run off with his secretary or the worship leader in the church? Be careful when it comes to relationships with the opposite sex.
Proverbs 2: 16-19: To deliver you from the immoral woman,
From the seductress who flatters with her words,
Who forsakes the companion of her youth,
And forgets the covenant of her God.
For her house leads down to death,
And her paths to the dead;
None who go to her return,
5. As you sow, so shall you reap
What goes around comes around.
As you judge, so shall you be judged.
If you sow sparingly, you will also reap sparingly.
If you give mercy, you will receive mercy.
If you are gentle, loving and kind – others will be gentle, loving and kind to you. If you are warm and friendly then others will be warm and friendly.
If you live by the sword then you will die by the sword.
If you are unfaithful and dishonest, others will be the same with you.
6. Put God first. Give God your first fruits
In other words, always give Him the best of your finances first.
Proverbs 3:9-10: Honour the Lord with your possessions,
And with the first fruits of all your increase;
So your barns will be filled with plenty,
And your vats will overflow with new wine.
Give Him the best of yourself when you wake up. Praise & worship Him fist when you wake up, don’t first go and check your messages on WhatsApp, fb or the TV. Go to Him first, set your mind on Him first, spend time with Him first.
Psalm 1:2-5
his delight is in the law of the Lord (in His Word); and in his law doth he meditates day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore, the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
7. Walk in faith and not unbelief
Unbelief will cause you never to enter into the best God has desired and planned for you.
Hebrews 3:19: they could not enter (the promised land) because of their unbelief.
Hebrews 11:6: without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
When Jesus died on the cross, He said: It is finished.
He did everything He came to do over 2000 years ago, He doesn’t come down from the throne every two minutes to fix things in our lives. His grace is already here to save, restore, heal and deliver us.
He broke the curse of the law, He gave us salvation, He opened the way for the Holy Spirit to live in the hearts of each and every one of us through His anointing, He provided the grace we need to walk in healing and prosperity in every way. The only way we can receive His grace for salvation, healing, deliverance, etc. is by faith. We need to come to Him believing that He is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him. We can extract the grace He provided only by faith, unless God divinely moves on your behalf Himself, but even then it is probably due to the faith of others who prayed for you.
