A new day, a new beginning, it's great day to be alive, I once again give God all the glory for having supernaturally kept me from falling off the bridge into the ravine.
I went for an early morning swim in the glistening clear pool water at the hotel before going to breakfast. The water was comforting against my bruises. the sun was shining warming my face. I had been on the road for 11 days and forgot what it was like to enjoy the the pleasure of all this.
Yesterday made me re-evaluate our modus operandi, there was no way my conscience would allow me to encourage evangelists to cycle these dangerous highways, never mind expect my beloved, Karen to do it.
I will continue to cycle about another 395 miles of the Atlantic route past Virginia Beach, past Kitty Hawk (Where the Wright brothers tested the first biplane glider in 1900), Beaufort and into Wilmington. Thereafter I will cease to cycle long routes but will use buses and rail and then use the bicycle to make my way around the towns and cities.
For breakfast I made a waffle with syrup and a toasted baggle with cream cheese and strawberry jam washed down with a hot cup of white coffee. I know it's all fattening, but so what.
I then went on to the computer doing emails and catching up with this blog. Another chap caught my attention as he sat on the other side of the dinning room talking on his cell to someone about God. I introduced myself and told him I was on a missionary journey. He said "You are South African, I was born there myself" Both of us knew this was no co-incidence but a God incidence. I had an appointment to stay the night with another cyclist 21 miles down the road, but the Holy Spirit would not let me go.
We both prayed that God would confirm it if he wanted me to stay longer in Williamsburg, but the confirmation would have to be within the next 20 minutes as I was due to leave. I phoned Karen and told her about my new found friend Louis Addendorf, without hesitation she said:"Glen stay another night in the hotel, I can sense God is in this". The Bible says; with two or more witnesses let His word be established"
Louis said:" I want to bless you but what can I do to bless you? I can give you 50% off the room charge, is that okay" I replied; "That's more than okay".
Louis had to work at the hotel desk until 11 p.m. so ventured into the Old Town, it was very picturesque along the Duke of Gloucester Road, with shops and houses along the mile long stretch all dated back to the 1700's. I arrived back at the hotel before Louis was due to finish ,he ordered a pizza for us to share. We spoke for a long while about the things of God before I made my way to bed and he made his way home.

I must say I was very impressed with the Hotel. The first night I negotiated a rate of $50, the second night Louis charged me $35.
