At 6 a.m. I hit McDonalds (Praise God for McDonalds) power points,WiFi & restrooms, what more could a touring evangelist want? Warm bath, soft bed, okay, okay, silly question. After my batteries were charged, my emails sent, I headed decided to visit the hospital to see if anyone would like ministry. There was a large lady in a large wheel chair that I prayed for, she was suffering from diabetes, she proudly told me that she was an Indian (Red) and was a mixture of 3 different tribes. Another young tanned slender lady with long brown hair walked out of the oncology section crying, I asked if I could pray for her but she was not keen. I eventually started off along Route 1 towards Richmond. 38 miles later I stopped to buy fruit and replenish my water, at a supermarket in Ladysmith. My consumption is quite heavy, as I am doing about 2 gallons/30 miles.
A personable man with grey hair ruddy complexion and smiley face approached me and began inquiring as to where I had come from and where I was going. We immediately clicked and developed a rapport, we agreed to meet outside the supermarket after we did our shopping. He suggested an Italian Restaurant just 30 meters away, where he kindly bought me refreshments. Rich was an interesting, warm, generous, person who had graduated in Theology but chose to miss the hard business of boxing which he had gown up in, with his father once being President of the Golden Gloves and decided to become a police officer. We spoke about a whole bunch of stuff just like as though we were old friends and suddenly veered onto boxing. He knew many world champions personally such as Hitman Hearns & Dokes who had lost his heavyweight title to the South African Gerrie Coetzee. We had a wonderful time but eventually parted after exchanging numbers. I cycled another 15 miles or so before camping in the woods a few meters from the road. I cycled on for about another 7 miles, it started to get dark and I needed to camp before sunset, I found a place about 20 meters off the side of the road.
