I awoke at 4.30 a.m. and spent an hour and a half washing and packing up. I then cycled around the quaint town of Lorton, looking for somewhere to have a nice warm Latte and charge my laptop. Eventually I gave up and sat on a metal bench outside the drugstore and began phoning friends in England and South Africa, if I never phoned you it means I do not have your land line. You see I have a cell deal where I can phone over 50 countries in the world and the USA for free as long as it's a land line.
I especially phoned my son, Garrett, whose birthday it was, he turned 31, heck I can't believe I am so old already, where did time go. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GARRETT
After a phone call to the bike shop I learned that it was a motorcycle shop, the nearest bicycle shop was another 10 miles south. I prayed Lord please let them have cycling shorts for me, I'll pay anything for it but if you can work a deal for me I will appreciate it. Ten miles later I arrived at the bicycle shop dripping in sweat and pretty dehydrated. The temperature here is 90 deg F. I looked around the shop for these illusive pants, disappointment began to set in, it appeared even they didn't have my size. How far must I go to get a pair of cycling pants? As answered prayer would have it, the shop assistant suddenly pulled out an XXL pair, I thought please God let it be the one, I noted it was marked down from $80 to $49 and began to get excited,it fitted perfectly.
As I left the shop I got talking to a lovely chap from Salvador called Jose,we began talking about how the end of time is near and the one world order, the mark of the beast and the great conspiracy regarding the central bankers, the Federal Reserve, the IRS, and the Truth about your birth certificate, which one can look up on Youtube.
9 miles later I found a nice spot in the woods to camp down for some much needed sleep.
Karen told me this sounds more like an adventure than an evangelistic campaign, but for me it has been more like a steep learning curve and as I find my feet I am sure more time will be spent on street evangelism. We are only allowed a maximum stay of 6 months in the USA so there is no time for dilly dally, as I do my best to cover ground despite my 130 kg frame and state of fitness. through this experience God has put it on my heart to involve churches worldwide in facilitating other cycling evangelists by offering them accommodation or just a safe spot to camp so that we can be effective for the kingdom of God. You can see my appeal under the Support page.
Below is a pic of my valuable cycling pants, okay cut the laughing,I have the good mind to delete it.
